ClickTracks--Lots
of Zeros, in a Good Way
When
ClickTracks was ready to launch version 4.0 of their award-winning
software, they really wanted to get the word out.
So
that's what
maven communications
did.
Know how much we spent on advertising in print and online publications?
Nothing.
Know
how much we spent on glossy direct mail brochures to rented lists
of 'hot prospects'? Zero.
Know
how many people ended up hearing about the new launch? According
to estimates from the publications where we received coverage, more
than 2,000,000. And yes, all those zeros are supposed to be there.
Two million.
Let's
put that in perspective. Each week, there are 16 NFL football games
being played. Add up all the people in those stadiums. Now double
that number. That's how many people learned of ClickTracks during
our 2-week launch period.
But the 2 million people weren't limited to football fans...that
isn't exactly the way we target ClickTracks' marketing. The 2 million
people are interested in technology, web analytics, search engine
strategy, pay per click marketing, software development and online
business. In other words, exactly the types of people who might
have an interest in web analytics software. The type of people with
the budget to purchase web analytics software.
Not
all 2 million downloaded a demo copy, much to the relief of the
ClickTracks tech folks. But many of them did, in record numbers.
Each day for the two-week launch period, downloads were up by more
than 1000%.
